Date: May 16, 2025 | Location: DE BOUWPUT, Ferdinand Huyckstraat 74, Amsterdam
On May 16, DE BOUWPUT hosted the opening of The Children of Resistance, a group exhibition featuring sixteen young artists from Georgia. Curated by Ana Rekhviashvili and Tama Kvantaliani (yamadatesla), the show brings together painting, video, installation, costume, and digital media — all shaped by the experience of living through protest and political pressure.
The exhibition explores how making art can become an act of resistance. As Ana Rekhviashvili writes in the exhibition text:
“There are moments when making art becomes a form of standing up — not after the fact, but in the middle of it… These works do not speak of resistance from afar. They are made of it — woven from pressure, from memory, and from the dream of a freer place to live.”
Each artist brings a unique voice and approach, but all are connected by a shared desire to speak out when freedom and truth are under threat.
